Covid worship update
Latest Information Updated 23 March 2022
Much has changed in the last few weeks regarding mandated responses to COVID for places of worship such as ours. Let me summarise the main points.
We are no longer to follow the COVID Safe Checklist, which includes using the check-in Qld app.
We no longer have limitations on the numbers attending worship.
In general, face masks are not required to be worn.
With the withdrawal of the COVID safety checklist, we no longer require the position of COVID warden. I wish to express my thanks to those who have diligently undertaken this role since being invited by Rev'd Gary Smith to do so.
Of course, the risk of COVID infection remains even though significantly reduced through vaccination and other methods. We, therefore, continue to take ongoing proportionate measures to mitigate this risk. This includes
We encourage people to sanitise their hands on entering church or hall.
We continue to encourage people to maintain physical distancing to the extent possible.
We encourage people to feel comfortable using a mask if they wish
We encourage people to stay home if they have any COVID symptoms.
We will continue to promote natural ventilation through airflow, particularly where larger groups are gathered.
The final issue relates to cleaning after use of the church. We no longer require the church to be "Fogged" after each use. We continue to have a weekly pattern of cleaning the church that includes "Fogging". I would like us to continue to seek to clean down frequently used surfaces such as door handles, taps and benches after use. It is easy to get out of this simple habit of cleaning, but people with active COVID infections will inevitably attend.
When we are made aware of a confirmed COVID case that has been present at one of our services or activities, we implement appropriate extra cleaning before further use.
