“Make more Christians and make more Christians more Christian.”
Speaker Ron Bundy
I was born in North Sydney in May 1947. So I’m 70 years old. Margaret and I will have
been married 50 years in February 2018. We have 3 adult children, all married and 7
grandsons under 12.
I’ve worked in various occupations: travel, pubs, labouring, Insurance, milk run, family
cleaning business…all these in Sydney prior to 1980.
Although I was baptised back in 1947 (at St Marys RC North Sydney) Margaret and I
came to a living faith in 1971 at a small welcoming Anglican Church on the northern
beaches of Sydney where we owned our first home.
After 4 years at Moore College (1975-8) I was Curate at Willoughby (near Nth
Sydney), then inner city Adelaide in a very large church; where I trained lots of people
in how to reach out. In 1985 we moved to a house church of 20 in the new town of
Palmerston 20 kms south of Darwin. The church met in and under our house. A very
challenging and fruitful time. From there to 14 years in The Gap ( plus a short stint in
the UK) . Finally 9 years at Gold Coast North especially establishing the new church in
Upper Coomera. For ten years I was a Residentiary Canon of St John’s Cathedral.
I keep myself fit through jogging ,walking, push ups etc plus surfing. We both love
gardening. ..we grow lots of veggies and both enjoy reading.
I feel our church may have lost its way with regard to outreach and making disciples.
We want people to come to us rather than us go to them.
