| At Nathanael House we believe in getting young people ready for the real world. this means that we young people improve their life skills so they can be more independent and get where they want to in life. We also believe in each person taking responsibility for themselves and doing their fair share. Beds are provided on an overnight, then weekly, then short term basis (to get a short term bed young people need a daily activity).
After settling into the house the staff will start talking to the young people about what they want to happen in the future. The staff will help set goals and assist in achieving them. Help can be provided for long term housing, getting work, going to school or training, family issues, health, recreation, getting an income or other issues.
Staff at Nathanael House are there to help young people and make sure the house runs smoothly and safely. It is important to follow their direction and the house rules.
Nathanael House provides food, as well as shower and laundry facilities. Clothing and personal hygiene products can also be provided.
Funding is available to help young people return to school or to get a job.
Drugs, alcohol, weapons and stolen goods are not allowed on the property. Violence is not tolerated in the house for staff and resident safety.
It is expected that residents at the house follow the house program and rules, and do their best to get on with others.
The daily program involves getting up, doing chores, and keeping themselves and rooms clean. For those residents who have an income it is expected that they pay board and save for any expenses.
